We are located on the main floor (1st floor) at Parkview Noble. The unit has 9 surgical ambulatory rooms, 1 procedure room, 3 ORs, and 4 Recovery Bays. The unit also has an attached endoscopy suite which has 4 clinic rooms, 2 prep rooms, 2 procedure rooms and 2 recovery bays.
Summary:
Under the direction of the department manager and in collaboration with the Perioperative Services Leadership, responsible for the planning, ordering, special order inventory management, documentation and patient charge reconciliation for the clinical record of care. Responsible for strict adherence to all clinical, regulatory and industry standards for inventory, prioritization, maintenance, documentation, sterilization of all surgical instrumentation and equipment while aiding in and reducing the risk of surgical site infections.
Education:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent GED.
Licensure/Certification:
Must achieve certification from IAHCSMM as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within two years from date of employment and maintain certification throughout employment. Current co-workers as of 8/2/17 will have until 8/2/19 to obtain CRCST and maintain certification throughout employment.
Experience:
One-year minimum experience as a CST or CRCST preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to operate and understand multiple computer technology programs and understand the importance of providing appropriate special order supplies for each surgical case.
