Your Role as the Assistant Health & Wellness Director (LPN)
As the Assistant Health & Wellness Director, you’ll support the Health & Wellness Director in overseeing clinical operations and nursing services within our assisted living and memory care community. This role is designed for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who is ready to grow into nursing leadership while maintaining hands-on involvement in resident care.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring quality care, regulatory compliance, staff training, and clinical consistency, while promoting a safe, home-like environment for residents and a collaborative culture for team members.
Summary
The Assistant Health & Wellness Director is responsible for assisting in the training, supervision, and development of professional nurses, Certified Medication Technicians (CMT), Certified Medication Aides (CMA), Nurse Assistants (NA), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to ensure quality care and safety across all work areas.
This role assists in the administration of the nursing program within Americare Assisted Living communities to maintain quality standards of resident care. The Assistant Health & Wellness Director supports and advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators on matters related to nursing services; assists with the interpretation of nursing policies and objectives to staff and community groups; and promotes strong working relationships with community agencies and internal departments.
The role may also assist with policy development or revision, organizational structure, standards of performance, departmental budgeting, personnel qualification requirements, drafting procedure manuals, initiating in-service programs, installing record and reporting systems, and supporting studies to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of nursing services.
This role may also be known as:
Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON – Assisted Living), Assistant Health & Wellness Director, LPN Nurse Supervisor, Clinical Nurse Lead (LPN), or Assistant Wellness Director.
What You’ll Do
- Assist the Health & Wellness Director with the clinical supervision and administration of nursing services.
- Support the training and development of nursing staff, including LPNs, CNAs, CMTs, CMAs, and other care team members.
- Help ensure nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care are followed in accordance with state, federal, and Americare regulations.
- Assist with resident assessments, care planning, documentation, and monitoring of changes in condition.
- Participate in rounds to assess resident needs, staffing coverage, and care quality.
- Support medication systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and pharmaceutical guidelines.
- Assist with quality assurance activities, audits, and preparation for inspections.
- Support orientation, in-service education, and ongoing training for clinical staff.
- Communicate significant changes in resident condition to nursing leadership, physicians, families, and administrators as appropriate.
- Collaborate with leadership and other departments to promote a safe, respectful, and home-like environment.
- Support staffing coverage and provide on-call assistance as needed based on community needs.
What You Bring
Education
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Licensure / Certification
- Current state nursing license (LPN required).
- Maintains current state registration and required continuing education.
Experience & Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to balance hands-on clinical support with leadership and administrative responsibilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, caregivers, and leadership.

Physical Demands
- Stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, crouch, kneel, and change positions frequently.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed.
- Push/pull up to 100 lbs. and maneuver resident wheelchairs (up to 350 lbs.).
- Assist in lowering residents to the floor during falls using proper procedures.
- Utilize required safety equipment, including gait belts, mechanical lifts, and PPE.
- Perform tasks requiring good vision, hearing, and verbal communication.
