JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall quality and delivery for the Access (also known as Admissions, Intake, or Assessment Referral) Department that is compliant with regulatory requirements, professional standards and the facility’s policies and procedures. Direct facility Access Department by leading and developing the access team to drive the access process while implementing and maintaining revenue-generating strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and participates in the development/revision, implementation and communication of policies, budgets, guidelines and standards for the Access Department in accordance with the hospital’s policies and oversite standards.
  • Ensures quality patient/client care that is compliant with the regulatory requirements, professional standards, facility policies and procedures and local, state and federal law.
  • Participates in problem solving and maintains close coordination with all departments of the facility to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
  • Provide leadership and development to the Access Department team through ongoing training and quality management efforts.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with the business development and marketing teams to expedite and facilitate potential clients to treatment.
  • Assign/distribute scheduled evaluations, intakes, or admissions as dictated by request and hospital census.
  • Perform follow-up communication functions and generate recommendations for organization leadership.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, and supervision of staff for Access Department. Provide orientation, in-service, and continuing education programs for department staff.
  • Serve as a clinical liaison with referral sources.
  • Responsible for developing KPI’s for the team while meeting departmental goals and objectives. Develop and review MOR’s and dashboard reports to monitor KPI’s and present data to leadership team on monthly/daily cadence.
  • Ensure that the department is up to date and compliant with new laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and spending to ensure the department operates within allocated funds.                          OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in human services with 4 years’ experience in behavioral healthcare facility admissions department or Master’s degree preferred in human services, or RN with nursing license required; with 2 years’ work experience in behavioral healthcare facility admissions.

LICENSES/ DESIGNATIONS/ CERTIFICATIONS:

  • May require licensure by the state for this position.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification may be required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
