Position Summary: Parkside Christian Church (hereinafter “Church”) seeks a passionate and relational Full-Time Student Minister to lead, disciple, and engage students (middle and high school) in their faith journey. This position is ideal for someone with an energetic passion to grow a ministry and who has a heart for the next generation and a desire to help students grow in their relationship with Christ.
Description: The Student Minister leads the Student Ministry to nurture the spiritual growth of students from 7th through 12th grades, fostering a profound love for God and His work. The Student Minister will help students come to know, honor, and treasure God so that they become faithful disciples and kingdom workers. The Student Minister passionately connects with students in local schools and is present in our community wherever students and families frequent. The Student Minister partners with the Church staff and families, manages volunteers, organizes special events, and more. They should have a robust background in ministry and/or working with students, be able to lead and communicate, cultivating a welcoming and supportive community for students.
Key Responsibilities: Christian Faith and Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrate Christian faith and Spiritual maturity through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Faithfully model Christian character, integrity, and Spiritual disciplines for students and parents/guardians. Align with the Church’s statement of faith and beliefs. Engage Students: Build relationships with students through mentoring, discipleship, and presence at events and school functions. Regularly connect with students in the community, at schools, and within the Church with passion and excitement. Communication with Parents/Guardians: Regularly communicate with parents/guardians to keep them informed about upcoming events, curriculum, and their child’s progress and involvement in the ministry. Encourage/equip parents/guardians to be involved in their child’s spiritual development. Communication with Lead Minister: Work with and keep the Lead Minister informed of accomplishments, challenges, and plans. Participate in staff meetings and provide up-todate information about the ministry. Maintain open communication with all staff. Resource Management: Manage the budget and resources allocated to the Student Ministry. Effectively utilize these resources to maximize ministry opportunities. Integration of Student Ministry into overall vision and mission of the Church: Work collaboratively with other Church leaders, staff members, and volunteers to ensure the vision for Student Ministry is aligned with the Church mission. Partner with the Children's Minister: Work closely with the Children’s Minister to integrate programs and ensure a smooth transition from the Children's Ministry to Student Ministry. Engage with the Church family: Worship regularly and in-person. Actively participate in the life of the Church.
Position Requirements (Qualifications and Experience): Education in Theology or Related Field: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Christian education or a related field. This provides a solid foundation in Biblical knowledge. Experience in Student Ministry: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in leading a ministry. Experience working in Student Ministry or working with 7th-12th grade students is required. This experience demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges and dynamics of ministering to students and their families. Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities are essential for overseeing and managing a team of volunteers and staff involved in Student Ministry. The Student Minister should be able to inspire, motivate, and guide the team effectively. Effective Communication Skills: Effectively and Passionately convey Biblical teachings in a way that is relatable and understandable to students while also engaging with parents/guardians. Passion for Students: A genuine love for students and a strong passion for ministry. Strong ability to connect to and build strong, positive relationships with students. Team Player: Work collaboratively with other Church leaders, staff members, and volunteers to integrate the students into the overall vision and mission of the Church. Establish and maintain positive relationships with leaders, staff, and volunteers. Actively participate in person in team meetings and activities.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
