JOB OVERVIEW: The doorman is responsible for opening all car doors. giving proper tickets to guests, checking incoming cars for damage, maintaining traffic flow and good housekeeping, and directing/supervising valet runners. He/she is also responsible for welcoming everyone in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner and providing guests with a positive first and last impression. In addition. the doorman is responsible for providing assistance into and out of the hotel as well as assisting with transportation and direction needs. Responsible for attending to immediate needs of each guest upon arrival and follow through attention throughout stay. Thorough knowledge of all hotel services and amenities.
REPORTS TO: Valet Manager
SPECIFICATIONS: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
SCHEDULE: Hospitality demands a flexible schedule that may require extended hours as business requires – on any day at any hour, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1) High School Diploma or Equivalent
2) Valid Driver’s License
3) Experience in PMSI Valet parking required
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Report to work when scheduled, on time, in proper and clean uniform, including name tag. Personal appearance and grooming must conform with standard.
- Handle all duties according to hotel policies and procedures.
- Be knowledgeable about daily hotel operations, check logbooks and bulletin boards and be up to date with all changes, new procedures and events.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
- Always maintain positive guest relations. This includes everyone that is in the valet zone and front entrance areas.
- Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
- Transport guest luggage, loading or unloading and other handling as needed.
- Assist in locating guest's lost luggage.
- Correctly tag, store and retrieve luggage from holding room.
- Perform all duties on valet runners or bellmen as needed.
- Maintain accurate knowledge of scheduled events within the hotel to direct guests to correct locations.
- Relay accurate directions to guests on inquiries of transportation within the local area.
- Maintain accurate log records of guest calls for Bell assistance.
- Remain in assigned postposition, maintaining correct stance.
- Monitor and maintain appearance of lobby areas and luggage holding area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to remain upright continuously on a hard surface for an 8-10 hour shift.
- Must be able to move a minimum of 50 pounds up to 5 feet high without the aid of another person.
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
- Must be able to communicate effectively
