Industrial Maintenance Technician -- Injection Molding Systems

Parker Hannifin Salt Lake Facility
Salt Lake, UT Other
POSTED ON 8/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/5/2026
About the Role

Picture a typical day keeping a fast-moving plastics operation humming. You’ll start by checking the maintenance queue, coordinating with cell leads on upcoming installs, and reviewing any overnight alarms from injection molding machines. By mid-morning, you might be knee-deep in a Sumitomo IMM troubleshooting routine, tracing a 24 VDC sensor fault back through a schematic, then verifying a 480V 3‑phase feed with lockout/tagout in place. After lunch, you could be bending conduit for a new press drop, fitting copper for a chiller line, or dialing in a pneumatic valve that’s drifting. Before the shift wraps, you’ll document work, update PM logs, and lend a hand running production equipment if a line needs support.

What You’ll Own
  • Machine installation: Interpret complex blueprints/diagrams, set equipment, run mechanical/electrical utilities to point-of-use, and commission assets to full operability.
  • Preventive & routine care: Train and assist cells with scheduled PMs; perform routine upkeep to maximize uptime.
  • Troubleshooting & repair: Diagnose electrical (24 VDC/24 VAC to 480V 3‑phase), hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC faults; make precise adjustments; replace worn components; implement safety improvements.
  • Operations support: Step in to operate manufacturing equipment as needed to stabilize throughput.
Technical Profile
  • Read and interpret electrical prints/schematics; safely work across 24 VDC/24 VAC to 480V 3‑phase.
  • Hydraulic systems expertise (valves, pumps, circuits) and pneumatic troubleshooting capability.
  • Injection molding machine (IMM) diagnostics; Sumitomo experience preferred, other brands welcome.
  • Owns a complete tool set and toolbox; experienced running and sizing conduit/circuits by ampacity.
  • Pipefitting skills (galvanized, copper, PVC); familiar with air compressor systems, HVAC, and water tower systems.
  • PLC exposure for basic fault tracing and I/O verification.
  • Comfort engaging suppliers and ordering parts to drive timely repairs.
  • Forklift and man lift operation experience.
Team & Culture
  • Champion safety—report injuries/near misses immediately and surface unsafe conditions to leadership.
  • Participate in your area’s High-Performance Team (HPT) to propose and implement improvements.
  • Record accurate job data (completions, quantities, rejects, hours) daily; uphold 5S—clean, orderly work areas with tools returned to shadow boards.
  • Reliability matters: regular attendance, on-time arrival, and overtime when customer demand requires.
Education & Core Competencies
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college/technical school; or 2–3 years related machining/maintenance experience; or a comparable mix of education and experience.
  • Language: capable of reading technical/professional materials and regulations; writing reports and procedures; presenting to managers, clients, and customers.
  • Math: fluent with whole numbers, fractions, decimals; compute rate/ratio/percent; interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning: define problems, gather data, establish facts, draw conclusions; interpret varied technical instructions in math/diagram form with abstract/concrete variables.
  • Supervision: this role does not include supervisory responsibilities.
