Position Summary

Summary:

The Tool & Die Trainee is responsible for learning and developing the technical skills required in the tool and die trade. The Tool & Die Trainee will learn to operate and support a variety of tool room and production equipment. This position supports the fabrication, repair, and replacement of tools, dies, machine components, and prototype parts while gaining hands-on experience with tool room equipment, precision measuring devices.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Is capable of receiving and interpreting verbal instructions, drawings, and blueprints.

• Uses precision hand tools and measuring equipment. Learns how to set up and operate tool room machines. Includes lathes, milling machines, drill press, band saw, CNC machines, and grinders.

• Learns to handle and use machinist's hand tools and precision measuring devices.

• Operates heat-treating furnaces.

• Fabricates new or replacement parts for dies or machines.

• Supports other toolmakers as required.

• Produces prototype parts as required.

• Learns fabrication and troubleshooting repair techniques

• Completes paperwork as required including inspection reports, logs, etc.

• Keeps work area neat, clean, organized, and under control.

• Is responsible for quality and safety of own work and compliance of all company procedures and policies.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required: High school education and enrolled in a registered apprenticeship.

Preferred: High school education and enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program with at least 6 months manufacturing experience.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must provide own hand tools and toolbox. This position requires the individual to handle and transport machine parts or equipment weighing up to approximately fifty pounds

This position requires enrollment in an apprenticeship program with Central Community College.

• Hourly pay range for this role is $26.70 - $32.10
• Participation in Annual Incentive Program
