You will work primarily on weekends, providing essential support to our dietary department while adhering to strict safety and food handling standards. Duties
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements, following established recipes and safety protocols
- Assist with food production tasks such as chopping, portioning, plating, and assembling meals efficiently and accurately
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, dishwashers, and refrigeration units
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas in compliance with food safety standards and JCAHO regulations
- Support with food handling, storage, and inventory management to minimize waste and ensure freshness
- Assist with bussing tables, cleaning dining areas, and ensuring a welcoming environment for residents during meal times
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or supplies to prevent injury and promote workplace safety
Skills
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, sanitation procedures, and dietary requirements for geriatric patients
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy meal service periods
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to food safety standards
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques and safe lifting practices for heavy loads
- Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and support resident needs
- Basic math skills for portion control, inventory counts, and meal planning
- CPR certification and knowledge of workplace safety protocols are preferred but not required
