Job Description – Therapeutic Recreation Assistant
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist the Director of Therapeutic Recreation in executing an on-going program of therapeutic activities to meet the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of each individual resident.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00-4:30 and one weekend a month.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Planning, preparing for and directing therapeutic activities and assignments as delegated by the Director of Therapeutic Recreation. Ability to complete required documentation and assessments. Assisting in executing policies and procedures for the T.R. Department and the facility. Assisting with supervising volunteers. Participating in required training and meetings. Understanding and following the safety procedures of the facility and the T.R. Department. Keeping information regarding residents, families, staff and visitors confidential.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma. Long Term Care Experience preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the needs, interests, social history, and physical and mental condition of each resident. Familiarity with the various departments and general regulations pertaining the nursing home and T.R. Department. Knowledge of documentation procedures. Understanding of the policies and procedures of the facility.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge or expertise in various recreational activities, (i.e. music, arts, crafts, sensory, exercise, etc.).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to tolerate physical activity, such as walking, pushing wheelchairs, bending, reaching, moving furniture and equipment, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Must be detail-oriented and flexible to changes in scheduling.
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Therapeutic Recreation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.28 - $19.28 per hour
