Facility Maintenance Assistant, Part-Time (42700)

Description:  This is an exciting time for the Park Ridge Park District, Oakton Sports Complex will soon be re-opening its doors to the newly renovated facility. Come work at Oakton and be part of the excitement!! We are seeking individuals to perform routine maintenance and assist with technical work at our Oakton Sports Complex as well as other district facilities.  The primary focus will entail program/rental set-ups, take-downs, and facility cleanliness. Depending upon selected individual, and needs of the District, duties may also include general maintenance of our swimming pools and other District buildings. 
 
Selected individual will contribute to the overall appearance and quality of the Oakton Sports Complex with the potential to contribute to additional facilities.  Responsibilities may include: cleaning, general carpentry, heating, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, water chemistry and pool filtration equipment.  May assist with repairs/replacements and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, perform snow removal and maintain operational reports. 

 
Qualifications:  Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including measuring, calculating and estimating is needed.  This position will be working in a highly visible and highly utilized facility.  The ability to maintain a positive work relationship with staff and the public is essential.  Will be required to perform a variety of manual tasks that include lifting items that weigh up to 50 lbs.  Due to the frequent lifting requirement of this position, an offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer lift test/ back assessment. A valid Illinois Driver’s License is required.  Must have a basic level of written and verbal communication skills in the English language. 

Education: High School Diploma or GED.   

Additional qualifications that are helpful but not required:   
Certified Pool/Spa Operator, Certified Ice Technician, three to four years of occupational specific training in ice rinks and a strong knowledge of the standard practices of pool mechanical operation and water chemistry

Availability:  Weekday and weekend shifts available. Typical shifts:

Monday – Friday: 6am – noon, noon – 6pm and 6pm – 12:30am

Saturday & Sunday: 6am – noon, noon – 6pm and 6pm – 1am

Typical workweek will be up to 20 hours.
