ABOUT THE ROLE:

SUMMARY:

Perform Intake Assessment interviews with individuals seeking mental health services, and complete the Comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment which includes an interpretive summary and preliminary diagnostic impression.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Duties and Responsibilities reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all related work assignments that may be inherent to the job.

  • Perform Intake Assessment interviews with individuals seeking mental health services, and complete the Comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment which includes an interpretive summary and preliminary diagnostic impression.
  • Facilitate client referrals to appropriate agency services based on the assessment results.
  • Collaborate with individuals being assessed in the development of treatment plan goals and objectives.
  • Explain to individuals seeking services their rights as patients and agency policies, and obtain client signatures on required forms.
  • Demonstrate competency in evaluating and documenting client lethality risk.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with community resources and provide referrals to these resources when appropriate.
  • Complete all required assessment paperwork in a timely manner according to department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of DSM V nomenclature.
  • Keep current on State reporting requirements for child/elder abuse and neglect.
  • Report to supervisor any acute or systemic problems.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor
Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health discipline or a significantly related field and two years of experience assessing patients in mental health crisis.
  • Master’s degree in Mental Health field preferred.
  • Maturity and sensitivity to the special needs of the mentally ill population
  • Ability to assess needs of consumers.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction supervision.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have Intermediate to advanced experience in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), the use of personal computers, and standard office productivity software.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk or hear. Will also be required to physically confront mental health patients in de-escalating situations that could potentially become physically aggressive.  Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.
