Job purpose:
The school nurse will support student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school. The school nurse will be responsible for addressing the health needs of students and staff when needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs student health procedures and assists students with administration of medication
- Communicates and collaborates with school personnel, nursing administration, students and families in a professional manner and with appropriate frequency about school health issues
- Document, compile, and analyze data for reports on school health services
- Ensure the use of proper forms, permission slips, and schedules for dispensing medication
- Evaluates student injury reports and record as needed/requested.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and material
- Maintains updated health records on students
- Ensures primary workstation and responsibilities are covered at all times during the working day
- Plans and implements school health management protocols
- Screens and evaluates findings of deficit in vision, hearing, growth, etc.
- Observes the child for development and health patterns in making nursing assessment
- Provides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the school district.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse Program
- Must hold valid State of Georgia Practical Nurse license
- Must hold valid certification for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Work Calendar:
This position works 7 hours a day, 183 days
Salary Range:
$23,186 - $35,291
