Role Description The Special Education Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located in Cody, WY. This role involves planning and delivering individualized and small-group instruction for students with diverse learning needs in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher will assess student progress, adapt curriculum and instructional strategies, and collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families. Daily responsibilities include managing classroom routines, maintaining accurate documentation, participating in IEP meetings, and ensuring compliance with state and federal special education regulations. The teacher will also promote a positive, respectful classroom climate that supports student independence, self-advocacy, and social-emotional growth.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Special Education and working with students with Disabilities
- Strong Teaching skills with experience at the Middle School level or similar grade ranges
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and support staff
- State-issued teaching license with appropriate Special Education endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
- Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and evidence-based instructional strategies
- Ability to differentiate instruction, manage classroom behavior, and use data to guide decisions
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field; advanced degree is a plus
- Experience with inclusive practices, assistive technology, and culturally responsive teaching is beneficial
