What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Leader - Forest Glen position at PARK COMMUNITY CHURCH?
PART TIME: 12 HOURS PER WEEK
Primary Purpose: The Music Leader will work closely with the Lead Pastor, Music Coordinator, and Production Coordinator to foster dynamic worship services and healthy music teams that lead our congregation to see and savor the greatness of God in Jesus Christ, by the power of the Spirit.
Key Responsibilities
- Enthusiastically support the mission and vision of Park Community Church Forest Glen.
- Work with Music Coordinator to cultivate a growing culture of encouragement and passion within the music ministry.
- Model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style – that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus.
- Lead worship 3 to 4 times a month working in coordination with the Music Coordinator.
- Build on traditions while having a vision for where God might be calling our congregation and our musicians to grow in new expressions of worship.
- Lead volunteers in weekly rehearsal sessions.
- Introduce new music to Park | Forest Glen that is doctrinally sound and musically engaging.
- Work with the team (Lead Pastor, Production Coordinator and Music Coordinator) to plan the music portion of weekly services at least 4 weeks in advance of each service, choosing songs that engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s Word.
- Work with the team (Lead Pastor, Production Coordinator and Music Coordinator) to plan the music portion of special services (Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve, etc.) at least 6 weeks in advance, connecting the message, and emphasizing the theme of each service.
- Recruit, audition, teach, and train musicians within the church to serve the congregation as a team with musical skill and humility.
- Lead weekly rehearsals that cultivate Christ-centered community and prepares participants well for the Sunday gathering.
- Read up on theology, music/worship theology and other things pertinent to worship leading.
- Spend time listening to new music.
- Participate in weekly staff/pastoral/service debrief/service planning meetings.
- Be able to step in for Music Coordinator in their absence.
Required Experience
- Have a deep, growing love for the Lord
- Professional representation of Park Community Church and the Lord in all things
- Proficiency in voice and either piano or guitar
- Proven ability to create, coordinate and lead a worship experience with a team
- At least one year of church staff experience or two years as a volunteer leader
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
- Audio/visual experience in live production environments
- Experience in leading in a multi-ethnic context

- Gifted 'liturgical architect' with the ability to articulate the thought process behind a particular service flow.
The Music Leader is someone with a mature, vibrant, and deep love for Jesus Christ who is both passionate about and gifted in leading people in worshiping and serving God. This individual will develop and strengthen the music ministry at Park | Forest Glen by helping to plan engaging services that are God honoring, Gospel-centered, and spiritually formative. They will develop musicians to make their best contributions to the Park FG community. While the Music Leader is not expected to play or lead every week, they will be directly involved in the selection of music and the overall flow of service in conjunction with the Lead Pastor and Music Coordinator.
