Toddler Apprentice Teacher

Park City Day School, a small, independent Toddler through 8th Grade private school located in Park City, UT, seeks an experienced, creative, and energetic educator to join our Early School Team as a Toddler Apprentice for the 2025-26 school year and beyond.

The Toddler Apprentice will work with the Lead Toddler Teacher and Early School team, consisting of three Lead Teachers and three Apprentices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the Toddler Classroom and:

• Provide assistance to the teachers in the Toddler Room and in early childhood classrooms for children ages 2–3 years old.
• Follow the PCDS Early School program philosophy and implement components as specified by the ES Director and/or Lead Teacher
• Support a safe and calm learning environment; maintain classroom by cleaning up after activities, preparing for activities, and additional tasks as needed to maintain a safe environment
• Support student development with project work, free exploration and semi-unstructured play
• Support the PCDS Strive for Five Values in the classroom
• Engage with students in play and support a creative, dynamic learning experience
• Supervise and participate in recess (outdoor in all weather)
• Assist students with changing in and out of snow clothing in the winter
• Supervise snack and lunch; opening items, encouraging healthy habits, etc.
• Prepare and assist children with nap routines
• Prepare and monitor nap time

• Ability to be flexible with classroom duties; moving between Early School classrooms easily
• Comfortable holding or carrying children
• Ability to move/carry equipment or learning materials
• Familiar with development milestones of young children
• Comfortable working outside in all types of weather
• Ability to easily squat, sit, stand or move from sitting to standing positions
• Ability to develop a kind and trusting relationship with young children & parents
• Willingness to occasionally take on additional duties to support the ES program
• Ability to communicate and cooperatively interact with team members, other school staff, and parents

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred, but not required
• A desire to learn about early childhood education and to move into a lead role is required
• Current CPR/First Aid certification is strongly preferred
• Previous experience in an Early Childhood setting (ages 2 – 5) is strongly preferred

Compensation:

• $35,000-$50,000/yr depending on experience & performance
