Principal Function: | The Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of the Pre-K classroom in alignment with PCBC Day School curriculum, philosophy, and Texas Minimum Standards. The Lead Teacher provides instructional leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. |
Job Description

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Elementary Education (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a preschool, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, or early elementary classroom (required)
- Texas Teaching Certification (preferred)
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction & Curriculum
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines and school goals
- Assess student learning and adjust instruction based on developmental and diagnostic observations
- Provide positive guidance and discipline in accordance with Texas Minimum Standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and behavior
- Utilize indoor and outdoor environments for developmentally appropriate learning experiences
Classroom Leadership
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers
- Ensure classroom compliance with Texas Health & Human Services Minimum Standards
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
- Prepare and maintain classroom materials and supplies
- Document accidents/incidents and notify the Director as required
Family Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents
- Communicate regularly regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Address parent questions and concerns professionally and promptly
Professional & Regulatory Requirements
- Complete 24 hours of required annual training
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification (every two years)
- Maintain valid Food Handler certification (every two years)
- Remain active in professional development and stay current with early childhood education best practices
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.

Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and assist young children as needed
- Ability to lift 20–40 pounds occasionally
- Work primarily indoors with regular outdoor instruction in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work effectively with diverse learning styles, behaviors, and families
- Proficiency with basic computer technology for lesson planning, documentation, and training
