What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Assistant Park Avenue position at Park Avenue Elementary School?
SUMMARY: Assist in the school kitchen preparing and serving the meals at Park Avenue including Breakfast, Lunch, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program and Child and Adult Care Food Program including all applicable documentation and clean up and other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree. Criminal History Record check (CHRC) through the Department of Education
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Good interpersonal relations with co-workers, students and staff
Must have knowledge and uphold the highest standards in sanitation procedures.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Kitchen experience preferred.
Understanding of basic computer skills.
Follow instructions written or verbal with a focus on accuracy for safe meal preparation and state reporting.
Annual school safety training per district guidelines
Annual Civil Rights training and all other applicable training per Federal Child Nutrition guidelines.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in preparing daily school meals on time and according to a planned menu in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness by following sanitation and food safety guidelines under the direction of the kitchen manager. .
Assist in maintaining temperature logs and following cleaning schedules for equipment and kitchen space.
Work scheduled hours
Support the completion of the state required production records to ensure nutritional compliance and consistency.
Assist with receiving shipments by checking packing slips and properly storing and rotating food and supplies.
Work as a valuable team member to provide the highest level of customer service to benefit the student and faculty at school.
Assist in the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and tables
Promote healthy eating and support a positive, student-centered cafeteria environment.
Maintain friendly relations with other school staff and with lunchroom customers
Confer with the food service supervisor regarding any personnel problems and matters related to the food service operation
Be a part of the team-orientated approach to collaboratively and continuously improve the school nutrition program.
Perform tasks and assume other responsibilities assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Supervisor.

Repetitive motions required in fingering, hand, wrist, and arm movements to cut and prepare food and clean kitchen areas.
Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter.
Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
Ability to reach in all directions.
