Overview
We’re looking for a skilled Math Competition Tutor to support students preparing for the AMC 8/10/12 and AIME. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys breaking down advanced topics, strengthening student confidence, and teaching effective contest strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one tutoring, primarily focused on AMC 12/10 /8 or AIME
- Design personalized lesson plans based on each student’s current level, needs, and competition goals
- Teach contest-focused skills such as problem-solving methods, test-taking strategy, and efficient solution approaches across topics including algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics
- Monitor progress through practice and check-ins, and adjust instruction to improve results
- Maintain a positive, encouraging environment that helps students grow in both ability and confidence
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Math, Education, or another STEM field; advanced degree is a plus)
- Proven experience with AMC-style competition math, such as strong scores, coaching, or related accomplishments
- Strong command of AMC/AIME-level concepts and problem-solving strategies
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain difficult ideas in a clear, student-friendly way
- Ability to tutor in person in Irvine, CA
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
