Duties:
- Assist veterinarians in providing care for animals in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting.
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian.
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, and record results.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and kennels.
- Monitor animals before, during, and after procedures to ensure their well-being.
- Provide basic animal care, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related field is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of dog handling, equine care, kennel management, aseptic technique, and laboratory procedures is desirable.
- Strong passion for animal care and welfare.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions from veterinarians and senior staff members.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and provide information about animal care.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and stand for long periods of time.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
