Duties
- Prepare and assemble sandwiches, salads, and other menu items with precision and care, following established recipes and standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including slicing machines, toasters, ovens, and food prep tools.
- Maintain cleanliness by regularly sanitizing work surfaces, utensils, and equipment in accordance with food safety sanitizing procedures.
- Handle food safely by adhering to proper food handling practices and managing portion sizes accurately using basic math skills.
- Process cash transactions accurately using POS (Point of Sale) systems while providing friendly in-person customer service.
- Ensure compliance with food safety management protocols and sanitation standards throughout all food preparation activities.
- Assist with cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal to uphold a hygienic work environment.
- Support catering or banquet events when required, demonstrating flexibility within the food service environment.
- Engage with customers positively by serving them promptly and professionally while addressing any questions or dietary needs.
- Follow manual handling guidelines when lifting or moving heavy items like bread trays or ingredient containers to prevent injury.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or food service roles such as restaurant work, catering, or banquet experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and general food handling practices is essential.
- Experience working with kitchen equipment like slicers, ovens, or coffee machines is preferred; barista experience is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in person and handle cash transactions confidently using POS systems.
- Familiarity with dietary accommodations and dietary aide experience can be beneficial.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while maintaining energy and focus during busy hours.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and processing transactions accurately.
- Experience in fine dining or culinary environments can enhance your performance in this role.
