Duties
- Conduct thorough inspections of rental properties to ensure compliance with Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) standards and local regulations
- Verify landlord-tenant agreements, lease terms, and property conditions using tools like Linsdey Software and property management software
- Evaluate properties for health, safety, accessibility, and habitability issues; document findings accurately
- Collaborate with landlords to address violations or deficiencies through negotiation and education
- Support residents by providing guidance on housing assistance programs, fair housing regulations, and rights under the Fair Housing Act
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, case notes, and communication logs in compliance with program requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience in property management, social work, or housing inspection roles involving LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) properties or Section 8 programs
- Strong knowledge of landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, and housing assistance programs including Section 8 vouchers
- Excellent negotiation skills to facilitate resolution of property issues and support positive landlord-tenant relationships
- Ability to perform crisis management and crisis intervention effectively with individuals facing mental health conditions or high-risk situations
- Proficiency with property management software such as Lindsey Software; familiarity with case management tools is a plus
- Exceptional communication skills for working with diverse populations from underserved communities
- Experience in motivational interviewing techniques to empower residents toward self-sufficiency and stability
