REY (Resilient Empowered Youth) Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting at-risk, foster, adoptive, and at-promise youth and families through comprehensive life-skill development, creative therapies (LEAF), and community-based programs. Our mission is to prevent crises, provide meaningful interventions, and empower youth toward a path of resilience and success. Through a variety of programs such as pottery, beading, art, music, Soo Bahk Do, cooking, and more, we create transformative opportunities for youth to grow, heal, and thrive.
Position Summary:
The Program Director/Coordinator will oversee the design, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all center programs. This leadership role ensures alignment with REY’s mission, enhances service delivery, and maximizes the effectiveness and sustainability of our programs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, innovation, and an ability to build meaningful connections with youth, staff, volunteers, and community partners. As well as utilize resources within our community and programs available through state and county. Program examples might be, the TAY program, TTP, the welfare to work, local schools and resource centers. As well as internship programs through local colleges.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight & Supervision
- Supervise all program staff, volunteers, and interns, ensuring programs operate at full potential and with fidelity to REY’s mission.
- Provide direct oversight of day-to-day operations across all classes and activities (e.g., art, music, cooking, reading/writing/storytelling, and therapeutic life-skills programs).
- Support the coordination of outside agency collaborations i.e.: resource centers, school counselors, other agencies within the boundaries of Humboldt Co, and cultural training programs.
Program Development & Innovation
- Design, implement, and evaluate innovative programs that meet the evolving needs of youth and families.
- Analyze current program models and recommend improvements for efficiency, impact, and engagement.
- Identify and remove programmatic and operational barriers.
Administrative & Budget Management
- Track and manage program budgets, including maintaining monthly financial reports and comparison graphs.
- Maintain and direct the organization of program records, client files, and reports.
- Assist with preparing proposals and identifying funding opportunities that align with program goals.
- Ensure accurate documentation of services, compliance measures, and evaluation data.
Communications & Team Development
- Foster effective internal communication and collaboration across departments.
- Lead team-building activities and facilitate ongoing staff training and performance development.
- Act as a liaison with community stakeholders, families, collaborative agencies, and other partners.
- Support fundraising, development events, and public engagement efforts.
- Maintain and update the organization’s website and digital platforms with current program information.
Qualifications:
- Education: Higher education in the field of social work is desirable, or the equivalent of life/work experiences.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with youth, especially at-promise, foster, and adoptive populations.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Supervisory experience, including team management, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
- Knowledge of behavioral and emotional dysregulation in youth, with appropriate intervention skills.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, including basic bookkeeping principles and financial tracking.
- Ability to analyze and apply local, state, and federal regulations in a youth services setting.
- Skilled in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to manage digital records and reporting systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and time management.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and commitment to equity, empowerment, and trauma-informed care.
