Supervised Visit Monitor

Job Summary

Sometimes a family situation requires visits with parents to be supervised. In these cases, Parents by Choice offers a warm, welcoming and safe environment where parents can maintain a connection with their children. Our supervised visitation program provides an unbiased, child-friendly venue for families. The program is located at our Stockton, CA office. Visit rooms are equipped with comfortable furniture, games and toys for parents to use to strengthen the bond with their children. Supervised Visitation services are provided during business hours, but program staff are often needed on evenings and weekends as well.

Generally, the families who participate in this program are referred by Family Court and are experiencing divorce or separation. Parents by Choice is only one of two programs in San Joaquin County that provide this service.

The Supervised Visitation Monitor is the key to this program! This position is responsible for observing visits between children and parents and documenting their interaction. The ideal candidate for this position must have excellent people skills and time management skills, and be able to function well in a team environment. Supervised Visitation Monitors are required to complete 24 hours of training each year. All candidates must also pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Works in the Supervised Visitation program to facilitate visits between non-custodial parents and their children in a safe, professional manner.
• Conduct and document visits with parents and children. Keep adequate records of these visits on file in Agency office.
• Act in compliance with Agency’s policy on communication—emergency and otherwise. Respond in an appropriate and timely manner to clients, staff, and others.
• Accurately report incidents, issues and concerns to their supervisor in a timely fashion.
• Meet regularly with the Supervised Visitation team for discussion of assigned clients.
• Maintain working relationship with children, parents, staff and referring agencies.
• Educate self on state and Agency regulations.
• Complete own administrative paperwork on time.
• Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences.
• Represent Agency and self in a professional manner.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with staff, families, children and community resources.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in working with children and families, either as an employee or volunteer.
• An Associate of Arts degree in a discipline related to social services is preferred.
• Valid California Driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
• Health clearance.
• Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance from the Department of Justice.
• Meets all state requirements as set by Community Care Licensing pertaining to the hiring of employees by a Licensed Community Care Facility.
