About the Role

Parent & Family Wellness Center (PFWC) is seeking a thoughtful, collaborative Lead Psychiatrist, Reproductive & Perinatal Mental Health to help grow and shape our reproductive psychiatry program.

This role combines direct outpatient psychiatric care with meaningful clinical leadership. The psychiatrist will provide medication evaluations and ongoing care for adults across the reproductive lifespan, with a particular focus on pregnancy and the postpartum period. They will also help train and consult with PFWC clinicians, serve as a rendering provider for pre-licensed clinicians, and contribute to the development of a strong, integrated reproductive mental health service line.

This role can be part-time (minimum 1.5 day/week) or begin part-time and grow toward full-time based on the psychiatrist’s interest, availability, and the needs of the program. It may be fully telehealth or hybrid.

What You’ll Do

Direct Psychiatric Care

• Provide psychotropic medication evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing medication-management care for adults across the reproductive lifespan, with a particular focus on pregnant and postpartum clients.
• Approach prescribing with warmth, humility, and a developmentally informed, trauma-aware lens.
• Collaborate closely with clients’ therapists and other relevant providers to support coordinated, high-quality care.
• Build a direct-care caseload at a pace and volume that aligns with your availability and interest.

Clinical Leadership, Consultation & Training

• Help lead and further develop PFWC’s reproductive and perinatal psychiatry program.
• Provide consultation, case guidance, and clinical perspective to behavioral health clinicians across the center, including occasional consultation around urgent clinical concerns.
• Train and support clinicians in areas such as perinatal psychopharmacology, diagnostic assessment, clinical risk, and collaboration with psychiatric providers.
• Contribute to internal training materials, case consultation, policies, and program development.
• Participate in regular collaboration with PFWC’s psychiatric, supervisory, and organizational leadership.

Rendering Provider Responsibilities

• Serve as a rendering provider for pre-licensed clinicians, including reviewing and signing notes in consultation with therapists’ direct clinical supervisors.
• Support sound clinical documentation and appropriate coordination within this role.
• Help PFWC maintain effective systems and practices related to rendering-provider responsibilities.

Time Commitment & Structure

• The role includes approximately six hours per week of organizational-support work, including consultation, training, rendering-provider responsibilities, leadership meetings, and program development.
• Direct-care hours are flexible and begin part-time, growing toward as full a caseload as desired over time.
• The role may be fully telehealth or hybrid, with in-person work available at PFWC’s Boulder office.
• This is an independent-contractor role.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Physician licensed to practice medicine and prescribe in Colorado.
• DEA registration and ability to prescribe controlled substances in Colorado, as clinically appropriate.
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry.
• Specialized training and/or meaningful clinical experience in reproductive, perinatal, and/or women’s mental health.
• Comfort providing psychiatric care to pregnant and postpartum adults, including thoughtful risk-benefit conversations about medication.

Compensation

Compensation includes a flat payment for organizational-support responsibilities—including consultation, training, leadership, and rendering-provider work—plus a significant percentage of revenue from direct clinical care. Annual compensation ranges from $50,000 - $250,000 depending on size of caseload. Specific terms will be outlined in the independent-contractor agreement.
