Job Summary: A Charter School in The Bronx is seeking two reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time School Janitors to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for our students and staff. Each janitor will be responsible for handling approximately 1.5 floors of the school building, including classrooms, offices, cafeterias, and hallways. The primary focus will be on efficiently taking out all trash, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming classroom carpets to ensure high standards of cleanliness. Key Responsibilities
- Collect and dispose of all trash from assigned areas (classrooms, offices, cafeterias, and hallways) in a thorough and timely manner.
- Sweep and mop floors in classrooms, offices, cafeterias, and hallways to maintain a spotless appearance.
- Vacuum classroom carpets to remove dirt, debris, and allergens effectively.
- Ensure all assigned spaces (covering 1.5 floors per janitor) are cleaned efficiently during scheduled shifts.
- Follow school safety protocols and use provided cleaning supplies responsibly.
- Report any maintenance issues or supply needs to the facilities manager.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work required, with a proven track record in cleaning tasks such as trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to and from the school in The Bronx.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Availability for 25 hours per week, typically during after-school hours (e.g., evenings or weekends, to be discussed during interview).
