Position Summary

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)

Department: Administration

Reports To: Facilities Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Bremerton, Washington

Schedule: Approximately two days per week (up to 20 hours per week). The anticipated schedule is Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., although workdays may be adjusted based on operational needs. Occasional evening, weekend, or overnight travel may be required.

Compensation: $XX.XX–$YY.YY per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and general maintenance on company-owned and leased facilities. Responsibilities include maintenance and repair of building systems, construction and carpentry projects, landscaping, procurement of maintenance materials, and supporting employees with facility-related needs.

This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on company facilities and grounds.
  • Perform general carpentry, construction, remodeling, and repair projects.
  • Repair and install doors, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, trim, partitions, counters, shelving, hardware, ceiling systems, and related building components.
  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical troubleshooting and repair, lighting replacement, HVAC maintenance, painting, patching, and finish work.
  • Replace damaged building materials including ceiling tile, flooring, blinds, hardware, lighting fixtures, ballasts, switches, receptacles, and similar components.
  • Perform routine exterior maintenance including landscaping, grounds maintenance, seasonal cleanup, and building appearance.
  • Perform limited janitorial duties as necessary to maintain safe and professional facilities.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, landscaping equipment, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Purchase maintenance supplies, equipment, and materials from vendors throughout the region using a company vehicle or approved personal vehicle, as appropriate.
  • Assist with office moves, furniture installation, office layouts, and facility improvements.
  • Coordinate and maintain storage areas and inventory of maintenance materials.
  • Maintain building keys and key control systems.
  • Communicate professionally with employees, vendors, contractors, and tenants.
  • Research products and vendors using standard computer applications and the internet.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and maintenance documentation as needed.
  • Keep the Facilities Manager informed of project status, facility concerns, safety issues, and operational risks.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding company operations and facilities.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and the Workplace Expectations (Code of Conduct).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired

  • Five (5) years of general building maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and general building maintenance.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, email, internet research, and electronic communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.

Driver Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license with a driving record that meets company insurability standards.
  • Must maintain current automobile insurance on any personal vehicle used to report to work or conduct company business, in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have reliable transportation to report to the Bremerton work location as scheduled.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the region to purchase materials, visit vendors, or support company operations.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all applicable pre-employment screening requirements, including:

  • Criminal background check
  • Motor vehicle records review
  • Any legally permissible pre-employment drug testing required by company policy

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires the employee to:

  • Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Walk, stand, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach.
  • Use hands for gripping, handling, operating tools, and performing detailed work.
  • Climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces safely.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Push and pull carts, equipment, and materials.
  • Operate power tools and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Travel by automobile and, on occasion, commercial transportation when supporting company operations.
