Job Summary
The Youth Services Intern will work one-on-one as well as in a group setting with youth with disabilities ages 11-24 to develop independent living skills, social skills, self-advocacy skills and self-determination. The Intern will also help participants develop an understanding of the independent living philosophy while gaining an insight into working with people with disabilities in the field of Independent Living.
Time Commitment
This is a summer/fall internship. Successful applicants will work 20 hours a week and one weekend a month during the school year.

June 2025-December 2025 (Dates and length of internship are negotiable)

Duties/Responsibilities
Summer Programs
- Assists in implementing summer program and curriculum (Pre-Employment Training, Independent Living skills training, or social activities)
- Evaluate summer program.
- Assist all youth to participate fully in activity, including reading, writing, and physical task needed to complete activity
- Ensures the safety of program participants at all times
- Maintains positive environment for program participants and strives to be a positive role model
- Follows instructions efficiently and effectively, requiring minimal guidance while completing assigned duties
- Completes documentation in CIL'S First (database), maintaining objective, clear and concise records of participant contacts in participant's file
- Completes monthly reports
Youth Group - Fall
- Assist getting participants on and off vans
- Assist in setup and cleanup after group
- Assist Youth Specialist in implementing all youth program activities to ensure that independent living plans ae successfully completed by each participant
- Take the initiative to assist site staff in daily activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- BSW or MSW Students
- Patience and understanding of youth
- Flexibility
- Attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication
- Must have no criminal history as verified by completed background checks
