Position Summary

Responsible for Increasing safety and accessibility for people with disabilities by leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of Paraquad's home modifications program. Responsible for program compliance and reporting, volunteer/staff and supervision, training, customer service, and program evaluation and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Build and implement a new home modifications
  • Recruit and retain a directory of qualified contractors and volunteers to complete home modifications.
  • Collaborate with Advancement and Programs to identify community partners and funding opportunities to build and support home modifications.
  • Collaborate with Public Policy and Advocacy and the Home RepairNetwork (HRN) to move forward the HRN Policy Reform Agenda.
  • Collaborate with the HRN to coordinate resources and improve the home repair delivery
  • Engage and build the Home Modifications Advisory Committee.

Assessment

  • Interview participants to identify their needs and goals for independent
  • Perform home assessments to evaluate environmental safety and identify accessibility
  • Recommend home modifications to support safety and increase functional independence.

Project Management

  • Identify appropriate architects, engineers, and/or contractors to implement home modification recommendations. Collect contractor bids when applicable.
  • Follow projects from start to finish, ensuring timeliness, quality, and participant satisfaction.

Evaluation

  • Confirm home modifications meet participant needs and provide training on proper body mechanics and use of home modifications and equipment.
  • Evaluate home modifications program for continuous improvem

Grants Management and Compliance

  • Complete all necessary paperwork for compliance.
  • Document all activity in ClLs First
  • Work with supervisor and grants manager to ensure grant outcomes and budget goals are achieved, and, where necessary, implement strategies to remedy problems.

Miscellaneous

  • Protect participant's rights to privacy and confidentiality in all forms of communication.
  • Attend and participate in all required trainings and meetings every fiscal
  • Assist to fulfill program outreach and education functions in relation to Paraquad's mission, vision, and values.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in occupational therapy
  • Experience in home assessments and modifications

Certifications/Licenses

  • Required: Licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Preferred: Have on or more of the following certificates:
    • Certificate in Home Modification (ECHM)
    • Specialty Certification in Environmental Modification (SCEM)
    • AOTA home modification digital badge program
    • Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS)
    • Certified Living in Place Professional (CLIPP)
    • Certified Home Assessment and Modification Professional (CHAMP)
    • Department of Labor Certification as an Accessibility Specialist
Qualifications

  • At least three to five years of experience in providing recommendations for home modifications to people with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of home structural components to carry out safe home modification recommendations with contractors and volunteers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the philosophy and goals of independent living/disability rights
  • Knowledge of the operations of non-profit

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. and positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Frequently moves self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Occasionally requires repeated motions and/or machinery and power tools that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, phone system, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequently moves items, weighing up to 50 pounds, across environment for various needs.
  • Must be able to work full-time in variety of environmental conditions: high and low temperatures, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, hazardous conditions, and small/enclosed spaces.
  • Requires travel within 30 miles of the office and further as necessary.
