Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV infusions and aseptic preparations for acute care and hospital patients
- Manage medication inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and proper storage according to safety standards
- Assist with patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, reviewing medical terminology, and clarifying medication orders
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, offering medication guidance, and supporting medication administration processes
- Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and patient interactions in compliance with regulatory standards
- Support critical care teams by understanding medical terminology and assisting with specialized medication protocols
- Follow all aseptic techniques during medication preparation to ensure patient safety and prevent contamination
Requirements
- Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of LTC pharmacy, hospital environments, or acute care settings
- Critical care experience is highly desirable to support complex medication needs
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pharmacy operations and patient care
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique is essential for maintaining sterile procedures
