In this role, you’ll conduct one-on-one tax interviews, assist clients with federal and state tax filings, and begin building your own book of business—all while receiving hands-on training and continuous professional development. This is the perfect opportunity for someone with a foundation in accounting or finance who is ready to gain real-world experience in a supportive environment.
What You’ll Do
- Assist clients in preparing and filing accurate federal and state income tax returns (individual and small business)
- Gather, review, and organize financial documents
- Conduct client interviews to ensure all income, deductions, and credits are properly reported
- Stay current with tax laws, regulations, and form changes (training provided)
- Maintain strict client confidentiality and uphold professional standards
- Use tax preparation software efficiently (training provided)
Minimum Qualifications (Must Meet at Least One)
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Senior accounting students who are able to work at least 24 hours per week are welcome
- Individuals with a tax preparation background and a flexible schedule are encouraged to apply
Experience:
- Internship experience using tax preparation software
- VITA/TCE volunteer experience is a strong plus
Additional Requirements:
- Strong basic math skills and computer proficiency
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Professional, reliable, and eager to learn
