Role and ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Bookkeeper / Data Entry Specialist to support our finance department. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role provides critical accounting and bookkeeping support with a primary emphasis on accounts payable processing and financial data entry. The ideal candidate will have a strong bookkeeping background, exceptional accuracy, and the ability to manage tasks independently.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Accounts Payable:Review incoming invoices for accuracy.Code invoices to the appropriate school/department, grant, and general ledger account.Perform accurate and timely data entry for all AP invoices to ensure payables are processed efficiently.Data Entry & Reconciliation:Perform accurate data entry for cash deposits.Enter all financial data into the accounting ERP system (Blackbaud Financial Edge) with high precision.Assist with reconciling transactions by verifying entries against supporting documentation.Identify and correct any data entry errors or discrepancies.General Support:Provide additional clerical and administrative support to the finance team as needed.Qualifications and Education RequirementsThe Bookkeeper will be thoroughly committed to the PSOE mission. All candidates should have proven leadership and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ORAn Associate’s degree with a minimum of two years of accounting-related experience.Highly Valued: Previous finance or bookkeeping experience within an education-related or non-profit setting.Highly Valued: Prior experience with non-profit grants (coding, tracking, etc.).Technical SkillsRequired: High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., data entry, basic formulas, formatting).Strongly Preferred: Prior experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge.Preferred: Working knowledge of QuickBooks.Core CompetenciesProven experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, especially with accounts payable.Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, and operate in a task-driven environment.Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to follow through on tasks.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Must be a team player.Additional NotesWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
