Job Summary
Yard Driver/Warehouse employees is responsible for careful relocation of trailers between shipping and receiving docks. Key activities include, movement of trailers, proper loading and unloading of raw materials, warehousing of materials, delivering materials to production areas to maintain production goals in a safe manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- As a yard driver, responsible for accurate and timely movement of trailers, organize schedule to maximize productivity and meet schedules.
- Perform daily safety check on vehicle, report maintenance issues to Plant Manager and obey all state and federal laws.
- Maintain a log of all trailers in the yard, ensure all trailers are locked or have a seal on them, and perform maintenance inspections.
- Work as a team with Warehouse and Operations personnel to meet production requirements and goals.
- Routinely help locate raw materials for production use or storage.
- Deliver and pickup raw materials located at a satellite warehouse as required.
- Safe, accurate, and careful handling of materials, taking care with products to minimize damage.
- Ensure accurate quantities when loading, unloading, and packaging materials.
- Work safely and responsibly.
- Stage materials accurately prior to loading.
- Keep stocking locations clean and free of hazards.
- Maintenance and cleaning of warehouse and yard.
- Strong customer service experience with fellow employees and managers.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
- Ability to follow directions with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to sit, bend, and stoop for extended periods or for duration of shift (8–10-hour shifts).
- Able to work in fast-paced situations, while solving problems.
Job Requirements
- Must possess a current, CDL/DOT certified (Class A) valid driver’s license, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and DOT medical card.
- At least 1-2 years of warehouse and/or truck driving experience preferred.
- Experience operating a tractor/trailer (truck) combination required.
- Able to operate manual transmission truck
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations.
- Knowledge of warehouse work instructions, safety, and housekeeping procedures.
- Position requires regular and reliable attendance.
