About the Role

We’re looking for a Scientist II to join our Chicago-based team, supporting a range of environmental, natural resource, and NEPA compliance projects across the Midwest. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys a balance of fieldwork, technical writing, and planning. This position will work independently while developing under the guidance of experienced professionals.

What You Will Do
 You’ll contribute to projects from field to final deliverable, including:

• Conducting aquatic resources delineations and other biological field investigations 
• Supporting environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, and planning efforts 
• Preparing clear, high-quality wetland reports and technical documentation
• Assisting in the preparation of NEPA documents (e.g., Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and supporting technical reports) 
• Coordinating with internal teams to integrate resource studies into NEPA documents and environmental compliance strategies
• Traveling to project sites across the Midwest (~25% of the time) 
• Assisting with agency coordination and responses to comments under NEPA and related regulations

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field 
• 3 years of experience in environmental consulting, ecology, or related field 
• Strong technical writing skills and experience turning field data into clear, defensible reports 
• Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively 
• Experience with biological fieldwork including aquatic resources delineations, habitat assessments and reporting

Compensation Information: Base salary for this position is in the range of $70,000-$90,000 depending on qualifications. 

Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee-owners, we are eligible for performance-based bonuses, and our salaries are reviewed annually. Our compensation structure prioritizes transparency and internal pay equity.
