The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet established quality standards and specifications. This role supports compliance with applicable quality systems, including ISO 9001, and works to identify and prevent defects throughout the production process.
The position requires regular presence on the production floor and collaboration with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns, support corrective actions, and maintain consistent product quality in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and finished products to ensure conformance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Verify supplier documentation and identify, document, and communicate nonconforming materials or products, supporting containment, disposition, and resolution activities.
- Monitor production at defined stages to ensure workmanship standards are met, identify defects in real time, and support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Conduct final inspections and functional verification, ensuring product configuration, labeling, and packaging meet customer and company requirements prior to shipment.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure traceability within ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) in alignment with ISO 9001 and internal quality procedures.
- Support nonconformance (NCR), corrective action (CAR/SCAR), and return material authorization (RMA) processes, including documentation, tracking, and timely closure, while escalating issues as needed.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on recurring issues and supporting enhancements to inspection and quality processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and support operational goals, and assist with general manufacturing activities as needed to maintain workflow.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years in quality inspection (electronics/manufacturing)
- Experience with PCBA inspection
- Ability to read drawings and BOMs
- Familiarity with inspection tools
- Strong attention to detail
- IPC standards familiarity
- Cable assembly or control panel experience
- ISO 9001 experience
- Battery or power electronics exposure
- ERP experience (e.g., NetSuite)
Physical Demands:
- Frequently remaining in a stationary position, including standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand/walk for extended periods
- Occasional use of machinery and power tools.
Work Environment:
This role is typically performed in an office setting, with occasional travel to attend events, meet with clients, or collaborate with other departments.
The role may require work to be performed in a warehouse or production environment. Appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in these settings.
