Ironworker / Welder
We are seeking a skilled Ironworker with hands-on welding and rigging experience to join our construction team. The Ironworker will be responsible for assembling, installing, welding, rigging, and securing structural steel frameworks and reinforcing materials for buildings. The ideal candidate has experience with stick welding, structural steel, rigging and hoisting operations, and working safely at heights in physically demanding construction environments.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install structural steel, beams, columns, and reinforcing materials
- Align, fit, bolt, weld, and securely fasten steel components into place
- Perform stick welding on structural and miscellaneous steel components
- Perform MIG and flux-core welding as needed
- Set up and safely operate welding equipment and related tools
- Perform rigging, signaling, and material handling for steel erection and installation
- Safely operate hoists, cranes, lifts, and other rigging equipment
- Select and properly use slings, shackles, chains, chokers, and other rigging equipment
- Work at heights on scaffolding, lifts, steel structures, and other elevated work areas
- Inspect materials, welds, rigging equipment, and completed work to ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Follow all OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and company policies
- Work closely with supervisors and crew members to complete projects safely and on schedule
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Travel regionally to various job sites as required
- Work safely and efficiently in various weather and jobsite conditions
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Ironworker or in a similar construction/steel erection role
- Must be able to stick weld
- MIG and flux-core welding experience is a plus
- Hands-on experience with structural steel welding and installation
- Experience with rigging, signaling, and material handling operations
- Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and drawings
- Knowledge of structural steel installation, welding, bolting, and fitting techniques
- Strong understanding of rigging practices and workplace safety
- Ability to safely work at heights
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally for work
- Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions
- Physical strength, stamina, and ability to perform demanding manual labor
- Valid welding, OSHA, rigging, or other relevant certifications preferred
Preferred — Not Required
- NCCER Ironworker certification
- NCCER Welding certification
- Crane signaling or qualified rigger certification
- MIG and flux-core welding experience
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or agricultural steel projects
- Experience operating aerial lifts, forklifts, or other construction equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
