Responsibilities:
- Obtain pre-certifications, prior-authorizations, and referrals for patient procedures, surgeries, and treatments as required by insurance providers.
- Review patient coverage and communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers and patients to gather necessary information for the authorization process.
- Track and follow up on pending authorizations, ensuring approvals are received in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all authorization requests, approvals, denials and related correspondence.
- Investigate and resolve authorization issues, appeal denied requestions when appropriate and documents the appeals process.
- Help to educate the patient on the authorization process and act as a liaison between patient and insurance companies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and protect patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
- 1 years of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding (CPT, ICD-10 is a plus)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Friendly, personable demeanor
- Detail oriented
