The Logistics Management Specialistprovides high-level logistics, project management, and analytical support to production, sustainment, and engineering operations. This individual serves as a critical link between engineering teams, technicians, depot operations, and program management, ensuring the timely execution of production deliverables, schedule adherence, and data integrity across ERP systems and project plans.
This position requires strong communication, data management, and coordination skills, as well as proficiency in ERP systems and DoD logistics documentation. The Sr. LMS plays a key role in supporting both domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs, tracking deliverables, and maintaining alignment between technical, logistical, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage operational aspects of multiple ongoing projects, serving as a liaison between project management, planning, engineering, logistics, and production teams.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, track deliverables, and prepare regular status and budget reports.
- Assess project and production issues, developing solutions to maintain productivity, quality, and client satisfaction goals.
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding material status, shipping updates, and return material authorizations (RMAs).
- Create and manage domestic and FMS shipping documentation (DD1149s, FTM 1149s, DD1348s) and coordinate alternate shipment methods (e.g., USPS, commercial carriers).
- Review and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and Requests for Variances (RFVs).
- Track parts orders, funding, and serial numbers for hundreds of components to prioritize testing and shipments based on customer requirements and production schedules.
- Conduct Statement of Work (SOW) reviews to ensure compliance with deliverables and documentation standards.
- Support and lead Autonomous Engagement Thrust Area and aircraft integration activities as assigned.
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Engineering Leads to manage workload, assign tasks, and monitor project progress.
- Develop and implement tools for tracking performance, identifying risks, and recommending process improvements.
- Ensure all contract requirements and subcontractor responsibilities are met, including schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
- Provide technical and analytical support for project reviews, presentations, and audits.
Systems, Programs, and Tools
- ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) – Proficient in key transaction codes: MMBE, MM03, LT24, MB51, ME23N, ME53N, ME33K, LX02, ZRMIM0070R, ZRMIM0054, ZVT11, VT22, VT03N, VT02N, VT01N.
- SWMS (Shop Workload Management System) – Track workload and production routing.
- IPDM (Integrated Product Data Management) – Review and update product data records.
- MMF (Material Movement Forms) – Perform Bin-to-Bin transfers, RFIs (Ready for Issue), Batch Changes, Inductions/Returns.
- Logiquest / Haystack / OneTouch – Research parts, NSNs, and material availability.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, Visio, Outlook) – Advanced data tracking, schedule management, and reporting.
- WAWF (Wide Area Workflow) – Track material acceptance and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; or 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5–10 years of experience in logistics, program analysis, or production support within a defense or government contracting environment.
- Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, FMS documentation, and DoD shipping forms (DD1149, DD1348).
- Familiarity with N-ERP, MILSTRIP, and configuration management processes.
- Demonstrated success in identifying and resolving workflow or production bottlenecks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Project for data and schedule management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with engineers, technicians, and leadership.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience supporting FMS programs, production sustainment, or aircraft integration efforts.
- Knowledge of engineering change control, DoD program reporting, and configuration management.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams within Naval or Air Force logistics programs.
- Strong understanding of DoD compliance requirements, contractual visibility, and Earned Value Management concepts.
