What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Drafter III position at Paragon Force, Inc?
The CAD Drafter III will provide advanced drafting and design support for engineering and manufacturing projects supporting Department of Defense operations. This position requires strong proficiency in SolidWorks and experience producing detailed 2D and 3D models, assemblies, and technical documentation in accordance with established design and manufacturing standards.
The ideal candidate will have a background in design manufacturing, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineers, technicians, and program leads. Work will be performed on base at NSWC Crane.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed SolidWorks 3D models and 2D engineering drawings for mechanical components, assemblies, and tooling.
- Ensure all designs meet DoD, customer, and internal quality standards.
- Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles to drawings and models.
- Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing teams, and configuration management to support design reviews and production readiness.
- Support design modifications and engineering change requests (ECR/ECO).
- Maintain compliance with applicable security, safety, and facility protocols while working on base.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in drafting, design technology, or a related technical field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical drafting or design within a manufacturing or defense environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and MIL-STD requirements.
- Active or Interim Secret Clearance required prior to start.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
Preferred Experience
- Background in Design Manufacturing or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-31000 and familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Previous experience supporting DoD or government engineering programs.
