Mortgage Loan Specialist II

SUMMARY
A mortgage loan specialist helps clients find and secure financing for real estate by advising them on loan options, guiding them through the application process, and verifying their financial information. Their duties include assessing creditworthiness, collecting necessary documents, coordinating with underwriters, and managing the loan process from initial application to closing. They also serve as a liaison between the borrower and the lending institution.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a pipeline of 20-25 loans per month, both purchase and refinances
- Review loan application packages for completeness and accuracy, reconcile applications against system data integrity and update accordingly
- Gather required documentation from customers and third parties in support of the loan approval decision
- Provide prompt, professional communication to customers, mortgage consultants, and underwriters
- Review Credit Reports for accuracy and updating, if applicable
- Calculate and analyze income (i.e., salary and self-employed borrowers), assets and liabilities
- Utilize and follow company and investor guidelines and procedures
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Must be self-directed, motivated, and comfortable working in an extremely fast paced environment
- TRID Compliance
- Must have a clear understanding of Correspondent Lending and Investor Guidelines
- Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills
- Must have exceptional verbal, communication, and customer service skills
Required Experience
- 5 years of mortgage loan experience
- 3 years of experience using Microsoft Office
- 5 years of experience with Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac Seller Servicer guidelines, along with DU and LP
Required Education
- Must have a High School Diploma
Preferred Education
- Associate degree
