What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekday Overnight Roaming position at Paradise Oaks Youth Services?
SUMMARY
Manages program environment and physical plant; oversees Facility Managers 1; provides for the care, supervision, observation and protection of youth; responsible for implementing treatment plans; instructs youth in self-maintenance and life skills; helps youth develop interpersonal and communication skills; supervises housekeeping chores; passing medications, as required; performs minor first aid, as required; may perform various minor household maintenance functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of group home environment and physical plant during assigned shifts.
Travel amongst all facilities to ensure safety of youth and staff.
Oversees residential counselors overnight and program activities including housekeeping, personal hygiene, mealtime, etc. Includes enforcement of all program rules and expectations.
Direction and/or frequent oversight of assigned subordinate employees to insure that the assigned responsibilities and duties are accomplished effectively, efficiently, and within authorized budget limitations.
Maintenance of established procedures to insure the integrity of the program. Recommendation to higher authority of proposed changes to program procedures as necessary and/or desirable to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
Conduct employee orientations and/or in-service training as requested.
Maintenance of positive employee morale by taking effective action or recommendation of action to reward or discipline employees within provisions of the Agency's Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.
Compliance with all aspects of approved program statement, the State of California Department of Social Services, and other applicable regulations and procedures.
Establishment and/or following of prescribed procedures to insure that youth receive necessary support, and supervision, provide quality therapeutic experiences. Includes performance or delegation of specific shift duties including security checks, room checks, and continual supervision of residents.
Dispensing of medication in a timely and accurate fashion in accordance with doctor's orders, nursing training, and per Paradise Oaks Medication Policy.
Implementation of youth’s individual treatment plans.
May perform minor household maintenance functions and/or submit work requests for maintenance department actions.
Responsible for written and oral evaluations and reviews of all assigned subordinate employees.
Conduct quarterly training, as directed.
Perform all other tasks as instructed by supervisor, consistent with above job duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s of Arts or Sciences degree from an accredited college or university; or two years’ experience working with emotionally disturbed youth.
Must be able to interrupt physical altercations, respond to injury and/or life threatening crises, hear interactions among youth or call for assistance from staff, to walk, run, climb, lift 25 lbs., speak clearly, give clear and concise directions, and use their mental faculties to make appropriate judgments in all areas that affect major life activities of child care and protection.
Successful completion of Pro-ACT certification within 3 months of employment.
Valid California Driver's License required; must meet agency requirements for driving a van.
