What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Worker position at Paradise Farms Partnership?
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, handle and stack cotton bales, and transport crops from field to storage areas. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, cotton pickers, back-hoes, mowers, track-hoes, and ATVs/side by sides. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Duties also include participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops. Manual duties include but are not limited to loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads using hand tools in fields and to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, limbs and other objects from fields; welding; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; mowing and landscaping around the farmstead; and lifting items as needed. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
