Elementary Classroom Teacher: Reports to: Principal/Superintendent SUMMARY: Provides a quality educational program for students in grades K-8 or a combination thereof, and assists in other activities and school programs, as assigned. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides planned learning experiences which motivate pupils and achieves the maximum student on-task time. 2. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to acheive an effective learning environment for students. 3. Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education and music to students utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, as well as State frameworks, standards, and related documents. 4. Participates in in-service education programs and activities authorized by the District, and develops a personal professional growth plan approved by the Superintendent. 5. Uses the best and most current successful teaching methods. 6. Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents regarding individual pupil's progress. 7. Performs basic attendance accounting, gathers data, prepares reports, and updates records as assigned. 8. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professionals in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, behavior, and learning problems. 9. Uses students assessment results to diagnose student needs and differentiated instruction. 10. Administers standardized tests in accordance with the District's testing program. 11. Participates in curriculum and program development on a District level. 12. Performs other related duties, as assgined. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Selects and purchases books, instructional materials, and equipment. 2. May plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and volunteers. 3. Supervises students in out-of-class activities. 4. Shares in the sponsorship of student activities such as sports and academic teams. QUALIFICATIONS: Credential - Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Multliple Subject Teaching Credential, or other credential authorizing teaching grades K-8. Education - Bachelor's Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements. Experience - Student teaching or two full years of full-time elementary classroom teaching. Personal Qualities - Appearance, grooming, and personality which creates a desirable example for students. Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Average or better recommendations from supervisors of student teaching or from other professionals who have first-hand knowledge of the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher. Health Clearance - TB test every four years and drug test, when requested. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individiual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to work with and support the Principal in all decisions, and to provide Paradise School students with a safe environment in which to attend school.
