Job Overview
The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our MEMBERS. This position involves planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of seniors, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care requirements. The Activity Assistant works closely with residents to promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities for MEMBERS , ensuring inclusivity for individuals with disabilities.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to assess interests and abilities to tailor activities accordingly.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, promoting independence while providing support.
- Maintain a schedule of events and ensure all materials and resources are prepared in advance.
- Document participation and feedback from residents to continually improve activity offerings.
- Foster a positive environment that encourages socialization among residents, families, and staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, addressing any aging issues or concerns they may have.
Skills
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care practices, and recreational therapy techniques.
- Background in senior care or long-term care settings is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while being adaptable to changing needs.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Understanding of caregiving principles and aging issues counseling will be beneficial for this role.
