What You’ll Do
As a Periodontal Surgical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our periodontist and clinical team throughout surgical and nonsurgical periodontal procedures. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the periodontist during periodontal and implant procedures
- Performing preoperative and postoperative patient care duties
- Preparing treatment rooms and maintaining a sterile clinical environment
- Supporting an unobstructed operative field using suction, retractors, and irrigation
- Preparing, inspecting, and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Obtaining and processing dental radiographs and imaging as needed
- Monitoring patient comfort and status during procedures
- Reviewing postoperative instructions and reinforcing care guidance with patients
- Completing accurate clinical documentation and patient narratives
- Coordinating supplies and equipment to ensure smooth daily operations
- Supporting additional clinical responsibilities as assigned
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in the state of Massachusetts (required)
- Massachusetts Dental Radiology Certification (required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on patient safety and infection control
- Excellent manual dexterity and clinical precision
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced periodontal setting
- Professional, calm, and compassionate demeanor with patients
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with clinical documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior periodontal or surgical dental assisting experience
- DAANCE certification is a plus
- Licensed dental assistant experience in specialty practice preferred
