What You’ll Do
As a Surgical Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and ensuring safe, efficient surgical procedures. Your responsibilities include:
- Assisting surgeons during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures
- Performing preoperative and postoperative patient care duties
- Verifying patient identity and surgical sites
- Maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout procedures
- Supporting an unobstructed operative field using suction, retractors, and irrigation
- Preparing, inspecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment
- Monitoring patient status during procedures
- Taking and processing dental radiographs and imaging
- Completing accurate clinical documentation and patient narratives
- Coordinating necessary equipment and supplies for procedures
- Supporting additional clinical needs as assigned
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry (required)
- Dental Radiology Certification (Massachusetts required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)
- 1 year of dental or surgical assisting experience preferred
- DAANCE certification preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Excellent manual dexterity and clinical precision
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with clinical documentation
- Calm, professional demeanor with patients and surgical team
