Dental Assistant – Oral Surgery (Surgical Assistant)

We are currently seeking a skilled, reliable, and compassionate Oral Surgery Dental Assistant who can confidently support advanced surgical and IV sedation procedures in a fast-paced clinical setting.
This position is ideal for an assistant with prior oral surgery and sedation experience who takes pride in precision, patient care, and being an essential part of a high-performing surgical team.
What You’ll Do
As an Oral Surgery Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the surgeon and ensuring safe, efficient care throughout all phases of treatment.
- Chairside assisting for oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, including extractions, implants, grafting, and related treatments
- Assisting with IV sedation cases, including patient preparation, intraoperative monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery
- Monitoring and documenting patient vital signs during procedures
- Strict adherence to aseptic technique, sterilization, and infection control protocols
- Preparing, maintaining, and breaking down surgical operatories and instruments
- Taking dental radiographs and CBCT imaging in compliance with PA regulations
- Providing pre- and post-operative instructions and compassionate patient support
- Accurate clinical charting and documentation
- Ensuring compliance with all OSHA, HIPAA, and clinical safety standards
- Performing additional clinical or support duties as assigned
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- CPR/BLS certification
- Strong understanding of surgical instrumentation, sterilization, and infection control
- Ability to work efficiently and confidently in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Excellent chairside manner with a calm, professional demeanor
- High attention to detail, strong clinical judgment, and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
- Team-oriented, dependable, and adaptable
Preferred (Not Required):
- Prior hands-on oral surgery assisting experience, including IV sedation cases is strongly preferred
- Radiology certification is a plus
- DAANCE or formal anesthesia-related coursework
- Experience with implant and grafting procedures
- Multi-location surgical practice experience
