What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Paradigm Information Services, Inc.?
Paradigm is seeking a Quality Technician to play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations with our client in Vancouver, WA. In this role, you’ll program and operate Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) / Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) systems, perform first article inspections, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with QMS standards. Candidates should have IPC-A-610 certification, experience with AOI equipment, and strong surface mount technology (SMT) component identification skills.
Type: 6 month contract-to-hire
Shift: Swing Shift (3:00PM - 1:30AM, Mon - Thurs)
Location: On-site, Vancouver, WA

As a Quality Technician, you will:
- Program and operate 3D AOI/SPI systems
- Assist inspectors with review stations as-needed
- Import data and create programs
- Create and maintain the AOI package library
- Work with engineering and equipment manufacturers to improve the accuracy of AOI/ SPI and X-ray
- Program and operate any AOI machine
- Operate X-ray machines
- Perform first article inspections and give prompt feedback per work order
- Maintain process manuals on machines
- Follow the procedures as defined in the QMS that pertain to your area or Help update procedures and work instructions as-needed to match the current process.
- Complete Preventative Maintenance on machines
- Be a role model by following and re-enforcing Safety, ESD, ITAR, and QMS
- Actively participate in Lean activities
- Maintain 5S standards and continually look for improvements
Requirements
Our skills and experience wish list includes:
- Ability to adapt to and understand OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) software, even without prior experience
- Previous or active, IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certification
- Ability to read, understand, and navigate in Fusion documentation, Pass the Component Identification quiz, Run in-line washers, and In-process inspection accurately
- Minimum of 6 months of experience operating AOI equipment or related inspection experience
- Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting and calibrating AOI equipment preferred
- Experience in SMT component identification, accurately recognize and identify a wide variety of SMT components, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, and ICs
