Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Services Liaison serves as the central point of contact between facility teams and pharmacy providers, ensuring efficient coordination and compliance in all pharmacy-related processes. This role oversees prior authorizations, pharmacy alerts, medication interchanges, and billing practices across the organization. The Liaison is responsible for optimizing medication management, minimizing unnecessary costs, and supporting pharmacy-related compliance efforts across facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prior Authorizations:
- Manage and process all prior authorization requests through CoverMyMeds or applicable platforms.
- Monitor completion timelines and follow up to prevent delays in resident care.
- Pharmacy Alerts Oversight:
- Actively monitor real-time pharmacy alerts across all facilities.
- Hold facilities accountable for timely responses and follow-up actions.
- Serve as a point of escalation for unresolved alerts.
- Medication Interchanges:
- Ensure all therapeutic and formulary medication interchanges are completed timely and appropriately documented.
- Lead yearly enrollment of facilities in Therapeutic Interchange programs to ensure compliance and cost-effective prescribing.
- Coordinate with facilities and pharmacy teams to streamline interchange processes.
- Medication Returns:
- Monitor and manage medication return rates across facilities to ensure appropriate returns and cost recovery.
- Identify trends or gaps and implement corrective actions as needed.
- House Stock Orders:
- Review and approve house stock orders based on facility formulary, census, and clinical needs.
- Coordinate with pharmacy vendors for any order modifications or updates.
- Vaccination Billing:
- Submit billing for all administered vaccinations, ensuring complete documentation and timely reimbursement.
- Track vaccine billing status and follow up on denials or issues.
- Pharmacy Billing Oversight:
- Review monthly pharmacy invoices for discrepancies, billing errors, and opportunities for cost containment.
- Collaborate with billing teams and vendors to correct issues and improve billing accuracy.
- Reporting:
- Prepare and distribute monthly reports summarizing pharmacy metrics, including prior authorizations, returns, alerts, interchanges, and billing.
- Highlight trends and provide actionable insights to leadership and facility teams.
- Survey Readiness:
- Participate in mock surveys and provide pharmacy compliance support as needed.
- Ensure pharmacy practices are survey-ready and aligned with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Pharmacy Technician certification is required; must maintain active and valid licensure/certification in accordance with state requirements.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or pharmacy operations setting.
- Experience with CoverMyMeds, pharmacy billing, and LTC pharmacy processes strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in pharmacy systems, billing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, respond in real time, and manage multiple facilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
