What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant Emergency Medicine position at Paradigm Emergency Physicians?
Overview
Paradigm Emergency Physicians staffs the emergency department at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. We are a physician-owned, one-hospital group. The medical director works in the department. The schedule is built from providers who already know the hospital, the medical staff, and the community. Annual volume is about 11,300 to 12,100 visits. Acuity runs higher than the size of the hospital would suggest. There is no dedicated trauma, stroke, or sepsis team. Evansville is about 50 minutes away.
Duties
Provide independent emergency care for a community hospital that sees higher acuity for its size. Evaluate, stabilize, and disposition patients across the full range of emergency presentations, including procedures that a larger department would send to a specialty team. Work with the nurses, hospitalists, and medical staff who are already here. Take part in the schedule as a member of a small group, not as a rotating visitor. Communicate directly with the medical director, who is in the department.
Requirements
Board eligible or board certified in emergency medicine, or family medicine or internal medicine with substantial emergency department experience. Current or obtainable Indiana license. ACLS, PALS, and ATLS. Comfortable practicing without a dedicated trauma, stroke, or sepsis team. Willing to live with a small group and a community hospital rather than a rotating national bench. Clean malpractice and credentialing history.
