The Opportunity We are seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Grand Rapids team for Summer 2026 (full-time, mid-May through mid-August). This internship provides hands-on experience in civil engineering design, project documentation, and site development while offering exposure to the professional path toward licensure. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and consultants on active projects.
- Apply classroom learning to real-world design and documentation.
- Gain exposure to land development, site planning, and infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do
- Use CAD software to prepare design documents from sketches, notes, and instructions.
- Draft detailed drawings for residential, commercial, and municipal projects.
- Translate markups into revised drawings and review for completeness and accuracy.
- Analyze maps, surveys, soil and hydrology reports, and other data to support design decisions.
- Assist with calculations and technical documentation under the supervision of licensed engineers.
What You Bring
- Enrolled in a Civil Engineering program; entering final year preferred.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred).
- Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
